This work combines the blue and white colour scheme of Delft pottery/ chinoiserie and forms reminiscent of ancient Greek vessels/architecture to reflect a mythology of the present. To create this narrative, I depict the labour of food delivery with the engraved imagery of human figures, ants and the cityscape. 'From hand to mouth' reflects both on the tough financial reality of this work and on the process of delivering food, from restaurant to courier to customer. This process is reiterated when the column is transformed and unpacked into a picnic arrangement. In each moment, as a column or gathering place, the work elevates the mundane into the monumental.
