Lisette van Hoogenhuyze’s dynamic and colorful work looks easy but looking longer one finds another reality. Her work is about our lightness of being and the impossibility of grasping reality. This duality is reflected in the way she reinterprets the traditional canvas. Beside the traditional canvas, she creates dangling canvases and shaped canvases. They consist of multi layered reworked cloth and seem to unfinish the finished canvas. She explores different techniques and combines printmaking with painting. Using motifs from contemporary surf culture her work is unquestionable young and playful.
